Abstract

This study is examining the methodological analysis of translation of Al-Qur’a>n Al-Kari>m kiai by Abu al-Fad}l. This study focuses on the aspects of methodology applied by kiai Abu al-Fad}l for his work “Al-Qur’a>n Al-Kari>m”, specifically on the aspects of systematic formation of the al-Qur‟an and the used method that called as makna gandhul (inter-linier translation). This study is important to see the consistency of the model makna gandhul translation to the model of Harfiyyah (lexical) translation. This study finds that the translation of al-Qur‟an by kiai Abu al-Fad}l have characteristic to pay more attention to the grammatical meaning from the source language that then translated into the target language. Also, there is other specific characteristic of translation model of Al-Qur’a>n Al-Kari>m kiai Abu al-Fad}l including the use of language levels of politeness which gave attention to the object under discussion and to make the readers understand. This study is a library research by describing and analyzing the translation. The primary data sources are the scriptural translation of Al-Qur’a>n Al-Kari>m kiai by Abu al-Fad}l. The data then classified by systematic formation of the al-Qur‟an, method translate al-Qur‟an and Javanese politeness level. Then, the data were analyzed and grouped according to their respective theories. As a novelty in this research is by giving adjustment method of Harfiyyah Nahwiyyah (Lexical Grammatical). This is to show the consistency and to the translation of source language. The result of the research is that the translated script with the method of makna gandul has a purpose of being consistence for the source of language. The language type is north Javanese or north coastal and the method of translation is interchanged from Harfiyyah to Tafsiriyyah.
